Interview with Angela Keslar

One can't deny Angela Keslar was one of the most unique designers on this season's Project Runway. Today, I got the opportunity to have a one-on-one with Angela. Find out which challenge was her least favorite, whether she wears the outfit she designed for Macy's INC and her new exciting challenge.
First I would like to say I am a big fan. You've brought "rosettes" and "fluerchons" into our everyday vocabulary. How cool is that?
Angela: I never thought that would happen, but I am incredibly tickled. I love having the rosette synonmymous with "angela."
Are you a little worried about having shared your signature with the world so that others might replicate your style?
No- I never feel threatened when people copy me. Artists and designers are connected to God/Source in a special way and those ideas are refreshingly infinite. There are so many ways to express one idea. I'm excited to see what people come up with!
Have you noticed or heard about all the bubble skirts popping up on runways as of late?
Yes- my friends keep saving articles for me from the New York Times style section and Vogue. I love it!
Congratulations on winning the Macy's challenge. Please tell me you have your own set of the outfit hanging in your closet.
Definitely- and I wear it in many different combinations. I wore the black version of the pink top on the Today Show yesterday with a silk taffeta skirt that I made.
Which challenge was your favorite to do? Which was your least favorite?
I loved all the challenges except for the recycling one- I definitely thought I was a goner on that one!
Tell us more about the time you got to spend with your mother that we didn't get to see on Episode 7.
My mom is one of my best friends, so every single second was golden. We didn't get to spend too much one-on-one time together, but the breakfast at tavern on the green was AMAZING. They had everything from champagne to french toast. That restaurant is so olde world gorgeous. My mom and I both felt like queens. I will never forget that memory.
The competition seemed pretty tough this season. It seemed as though many of the designers were very competitive from the start. Did the intense competitive spirt make it difficult to develop positive relationships in the workroom?
I guess that would explain some of the behaviors, both on the show and after. It's not in my nature to try to do better than others; I always just try to do my best and know that that's good enough.
I see you've got a collection up on your website, www.angelakeslar.com. What's next for Angela Keslar?
I will be working for Catherine Malandrino (yes! the judge in paris where I got eliminated!) 1 week prior to fashion week to help her with her show. I don't have time to list all the thrilling possibilities that have opened themselves up to me (in fashion and tv), but I have had offers for backing my own line. I almost fell over.
Any advice to future Project Runway designers currently living off the grid?
GO FOR IT!!!!!!!
